Hi All Here is the latest news on my 67 roadster restoration. In my last post i was looking at making a removable crossmember section for easy removal of the gearbox. Well this has now been done and i can now remove the gearbox in approx 20 min simple & so easy now. I am now working on the back axle. I have removed it from the car and stripped it down to a hollow axle. It's really simple as it's the banjo type. I am replacing the diff pinion oil seal the wheel bearings & bearing oil seals. I have checked the diff for backlash and it checks out ok so will leave that alone. I have shot blasted and painted the rear axle back plates and will be renewing the rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders, springs & adjusters. The axle its self just requires a little work as one of the leaf spring mounting plates isnt as strong as it once was so a new plate will be made & welded in. Once this has all been done the axle can be put back together and put back on the car. My next plan of action will be to install the fuel tank and make my fuel & rear brake lines but i will let you know as and when i get to this stage. Thanks
